Sealed wallpaper pack by mrbiotech, September 11th, 2008. Download the multiple-resolution ZIP file, or download the image specific to your screen(s). Started off as a vector-based Photoshop sketch. Wanted to create something that looked modern and technical imposed upon something corroded and ancient. The text in the background IS indeed english (hint, hint).

A snapshot made from my kitchen window in Salt Lake City Utah using a 10.1 megapixel Nikon D80 camera set to focal priority manual mode. Some color enhancement done in the shadows and highlights increased slightly. Otherwise, you see it exactly as I did.

by mrbiotech: Made this wallpaper based on a really interesting dream I had. This image stuck out to me strongly even after waking, and stayed until I made it into this wallpaper.

Description
=======
A fractal wallpaper generated using the Barnsley^2 function in XaoS
Fractals are mathematically defined patterns with practically infinite complexity and a measure of self-similarity at increasingly large magnifications, or, as Mandelbrot defined them; “a rough or fragmented geometric shape that can be subdivided in parts, each of which is (at least approximately) a reduced/size copy of the whole.” (Mandelbrot, 1982)
In this particular image, you can see seemingly a seemingly infinite repeating pattern of smaller and smaller ‘hexagonal spokes’. These continue getting smaller, with slight variations in the pattern, until my computer becomes too imprecise to calculate the pattern any further. This image makes for a nice, understated wallpaper that still elicits a ‘wow’ from anyone who actually looks at it. :)
