Day 3 of April’s Sketch-A-Day Inspiration Challenge and tryin’ out some new software. Although I own and love Corel’s Painter X – it’s major overkill for basic projects. Uber-customizable, it rivals Adobe Photoshop in power and complexity. For simple projects I’ve come to love and trust Ambient Design’s ArtRage . ArtRage is intuitive and simple, with little to no futzing to get great results.

ArtRage is intuitive and simple, with little to no futzing to get great results.
While playing around with this new software toy, I’ve come to love the pencils for their realistic rendering on-screen. The interaction with “digital” paper is incredibly realistic. While just laying down some test-strokes, this little guy resulted. In part it’s also derived from a vector-based web-template I’m putting together called Boogeymen . The template’s still got a lot of work to go, but the simple vector graphics were really fun to put together.
