We will reproduce the lens effect seen on the sword when he is opposite to a light source, this effect is as famous as the Ray of light these days on the net!!! so take a look on it and decide if you could make by yourself!!

For this tutorial, I’ll Assume that you have the basics knowledge on photoshop Technics so the newbies are Warned, i’ll try to explain as simple as possible!!!!

Make sure you have your text ready and in a separate layer then your background. or it will not work.

I prepared this text to go on it simple…....so take yours and follow:

Ok, make a new layer above your text layer and reset your colors to default by pressing “d” on keyboard then “x” to revert em, choose the gradient tool and in the options at the top choose the “Reflected Gradient” and turn the colors from white/black to WHITE/TRANSPARENT!!!! and drag a gradient in the angle of 40? across the hole document as shown here.

Now, take the move tool (V) then move your gradient all the way to the left part of the document, where no part of the gradient is touching the text. while you move it you could hold shift, to speed up the move!!!!!

Now, we will klip the Sword layer to the text by pressing: CTRL+G….... Here your Gradient will disappear, so don’t worry if it do that!!!

Jump now to Image Ready, where the fun will have effect then go to: Window—> Animation…...

In the animation palette, make a new frame then take the move tool and while holding SHIFT drag your gradient layer to the right, where you could not see it again!!!.............magic!!! heh if you done all as I said you should see the gradient shine your text a crossing the document as you move it to the right!!!

Now if you want the effect to be more speed, you have only to make a minimum of frames, but if you want it more subtle and let say more faded (like a Pro) make more frames…..By hitting the tween button and giving 45 frames in the pop-up window that comes and keep the rest as default!!!!!! now run your animation and take a look!!!!!

Heavy ….....eh?!!!! playing with the settings and a little with your imagination this will give it a nice shot that will love to see what you come up with it!!!
