New Theme Submissions
« on: January 04, 2007, 06:00:16 PM »

Just FYI:  If anyone's interested in submitting their themes for hosting here at Skinyourscreen.com email the following items to themes@skinyourscreen.com

  • The theme/skin archive file.  ZIP prefered, although 7zip, Gzip, Bzip2, RAR, LSZ, and SMX acceptable.  If your skin is packaged by the program it skins (like Sysmetrix making SMX files), send that.
  • A preview or screenshot of the theme.  It can be a simple screen capture showing the theme in action or you can make something more fancy, like a graphic showcasing your magnificent theme and all its splendid features.  Save this as a GIF, JPG, or PNG image.  You don't have to make a thumbnail of this unless you specifically prefer creating your own.
  • Description of the theme.  You can write up your description with any pertinent links or markup using standard HTML or RedCloth/Textile markup.

Although the site overall has downsized since the ErrorHack incident, we are still very much interested in hosting your works.

does SYS take wallpapers/photos etc? I don't have the capacity for skinning Windows apps anymore, but wallpapers translate nicely across every OS ever Smiley

We're certainly taking wallpaper submissions Smiley

I've been reworking the way the themes are currently posted (don't mind the man behind the curtain!).  I'm now realizing how many submissions we've had before the hacking and putting up individual pages for each, for description and download.

You interested in beta-testing a new theme submission process?

I'll give you both access and instructions by email.  It's still kinduv a crap-shoot, too.  The CMS I'm using is eccentric in comparison to others.  Secure, but eccentric.  I'm looking for other downloading solutions, but will give you both access nonetheless.

Wes, the email should have been sent to your hotmail account automatically when I gave you access.  If it's not there, just give the word and I can email the info to an account you specify (or send it via IM or private message here in the forums).

Aah, it ended up in the spambin. Hotmail junk filters were never all that good...

I never actually use Hotmail anymore - i'm a gmail boy now Smiley The only reason it's still listed under my account name is because there's no antispam obfuscation here and I like my gmail nice and unspammed Tongue

Will test uploading features shortly.

EDIT:
File submission timed out :p darned dialup.

Rich, I'll mail you the file/description and whatnots to the email in the first post.

gMail - good, very good.

Sorry 'bout the timeout.  We'll get your theme up the tried-and-true way: email.

As you noticed, I recently tried this out. I was a little confused at first, but then I poked around and figured out more or less what to do. Basically I copy pasted the code you had for my last theme. The only thing that I did not figure out was how to put the thumbnail on the article preview. I guess you noticed that too since you fixed it. Smiley

I was proud to see your submission up!  Cheesy

The CMS I use is a little "atypical", but it's touted as one of the more secure solutions.  Uses MANY MANY tags, though, so I understand the confusion.  Still, you did great.  I did a small tweak to get the preview image up and that was it.
