Never did get around....
« on: May 25, 2009, 11:49:03 AM »

... to showing you guys this ~ http://www.mickeblue.co.uk/Satch_EC2008.avi.

It was taken with my regular Olympus camera which records Quicktime movies ( and chews up batteries like a hungry rottweiller ), and since I don't have the full QT package it was ages before I found a way of converting it to another format. By then I had forgotten to post it! I only thought of it 'cos it is a whole year since I had the pleasure... how time flies!

Don't panic  It's gonna blow! I had a much better seat for the show, but I went up to the back of the circle to get an overall view of the stage.

Wow, the sound quality was crazy good for a live show. Nice.

Satch still drops my jaw every time! Starting to appreciate his right-hand techniques (picking) more - master of coordination!

I cleaned the audio up in Nero Wav Editor ~ but it was pretty good to begin with.

What was great was there was no whistling, shouting, head banging or whatever when the band was playing... we old folks sat and listened and then showed our appreciation at the end of a number... call me old fashioned but that's how I prefer it  Smiley

I've just run out of words Rich... the guy is the Maestro!... love this track ~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0v_fFoYgsPo  ( 2m 50s ish to 3m 20s bears out exactly what you say ).

From the seat ~

~ the only shot where he isn't surrounded by a load of light trails, and I realise there is a mountain of work out there for a trychologist.

Been checking the Professor Satchifunkilus video podcast - they're a pretty dynamic quartet off the stage, too! Really helps to fully appreciate the people behind the music, great character, all of 'em!

In the pic, is that Satch's rig off to the left? Looks like three stacks with the red-lights on. Almost look like Marshall's, but I thought he was a Peavey guy?

You are so right... nothing at all 'precious' about these guys, they really want to share the music.

Interesting point about the rig... hadn't thought of it before.

check out "Made of Tears" ~ even teeth come into play ( though I'm not sure I like that gimmick ) ~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAalYg53V30

You are so right Rich... I've was using this Power Tab to get to grips with 'Until'... but it isn't quite on the knuckle, and the picking just doesn't begin to work... it's almost as if I've had to unlearn this piece. Like taking embroidery apart.

And I've had to rethink the whole industry... I was just talking to a bloke who said "Aw! they don't do that on the night!"
Deh! ( he was a Liverpudlian ) do it lhaik this & thait... and the bloody thing fell into place.

Right back to my friend Nick in 1982 when he was working the stage set for "Buck's Fizz" who won the Eurovision Pop Contest..... it's all a recording fraud!

As much as I love the guys work, I've just realised that I admire the  'studio' sound, not the nonsense that had been laid down prior to the audience sitting down.

Gone back to Exile On Main Street for a while! Several bottles of Jim Bean on Monserrat!
( Not much of that left now is there? )
