I watched a friend play this game. I didn't really embrace it, mainly because I'm not a fan of third person view point.

I SO want to play that!  Reminds me a bit of Halo2, which I've only seen friends play.

I think it was kinda modeled with Halo in mind. It kinda has that feel (looks at least, don't know about play as much) as Halo minus the whole 3rd person thing. Seems like a mix of Halo and Gears of war.

I think you should try it to know how it feels, for me i havent found a game as it, mean it have a special charm even it's 3rd person shoot.

it have some bad sides as : if you stay too long in the snow, the player dies
- some levels are not really quite intuitive, you have to search for the path.
- haxer : this game is not really as gears of war, this one is less Gore, and more ARCADE in the spirit of a good old FPS !!!

Nerio, are you playing it on the PC or the XBox360?  Either way, it looks SWEET.  I wonder if my new Intel Mac will handle it?

Well rich i only played it on 360, so the full HD quality is really delicious thing to the eyes.....On PC i dont think that will be the same thing, it asks for Geforce 6500 and more with about 1Gb RAM, so do your Mac looks like that???

Uh, I accidentally removed mrbiotech's post. This is what he said though:

Quote
The Mac's got a nVidia GeForce 8600M GT with 256mb ram - short on the RAM department but the main processor is a 2.2Ghz Core Duo dual-core processor.  I suspect video RAM would be the limiting factor Sad

Really sorry about that.

What kind of mac do you have? I thought they only used their own hardware, or was that a long time ago? Also, is that system ram or just on the card, cause the specs are indicating how much ram you need in your system. With the video card and processor you have you should be set unless 256 mb of ram is how much you have in your whole system, then you may want to invest in a gig stick :/

We have the same video card by the way, except I have 2 Smiley SLI is sweet.

Nah, Apple's been using top-o'-the-line graphics cards in their pro series desktops and laptops for the last 5-8 years (since OS X settled in).  This is in the laptop that the department's hooking me up with any day now...

http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?nnmm=browse&mco=7B723665&node=home/shop_mac/family/macbook_pro

2.2Ghz Core 2 Duo Processor, 2GB system memory, 256mb dedicated video memory.  I still suspect the 256mb for video memory will be shy of Lost Planet's requirements, though.

We have the same video card by the way, except I have 2 Smiley SLI is sweet.

Is it really!?!  Smiley  That's encouraging!  Agreed, SLI would be VERY nice!

Yep, same video card. Pretty cool. And no, with all the other specs that you have, your system will be able to easily handle Lost Planet. Your video card is just fine, the 2 gigs in your system make up for the only 256 dedicated to graphic processing. So have fun with it when you play Smiley

Well Rich, i have 1gb ram on my HP laptop, with a 256 gc and a core 2 duo 2Gb and blieve it or not : Half life 2 episode 2 is a pain to run...

the probleme is not the GC, its the processor who seems to not really handeling the game requirements!!!

it's driving me creazy , and to add to that, this afternoon something in the wirless card is not functionning correctly and blocking all the way my bluetooth connection with cellular phone...

These are the most basic standards problemes that pushed me to play what i want on Consols as 360 or PS3!!! PC is defenitelly not for gaming !!!!

I bet our buddy Haxer can poignantly disagree with that... Cheesy

...but then again, it is a laptop you're trying to run this on.  I think the benefit to gaming on a PC is the power possible in a desktop.  There are gaming-specific laptops out there designed for very 3D-intensive gaming (Alienware's stuff, for example) although the prices are quite prohibitive.  One of my lab-mates tried getting Halo2 running on his brand new Sony Vaio laptop and had a horrendous time.  Turned out it was because of the specific graphics card he had - that particular model presented a major hurdle for the software.  Gaming on a PC means you can double-up (or more) on graphics cards and run faster processors with 4-24x the memory.  I do agree with your point regarding consoles, though: it's still WAY more economical to get a dedicated gaming console where things are virtually guaranteed to work.

As for the Wireless/BlueTooth problems... you know what us mac guys say about that majority operating system, so I'll leave it unsaid Wink

The new Mac will be my laboratory/work computer principally, although I was secretly hoping to hook up a game or two on the Windows partition, since it's gotta be there to run my densitometry software.

(I hope Lost Planet will run... I hope Lost Planet will run... I hope Lost Planet will run...)
